Carefully selected from Japan, this vintage decorative wooden Ainu knife comes from the Ainu people of Hokkaido. The Menoko Makiri, or women’s knife, is a small, short knife. In traditional Ainu culture, a man would carve a Menoko Makiri for a woman to propose to marry her. If she accepted, she would wear it at her waist.
